Ffos Las opened in June 2009 and became the first new jumps track to be built for 80 years. The course is located north west of Llanelli in Carmarthenshire and hosts 15 days racing per year and a mix of jumps and flat fixtures. The flat season runs from July to September with the jumps season from October to June. The feature meeting for the course is in late January when it hosts the Welsh Champion Hurdle and West Wales National, over 3m 4f. The rain can get into the ground fairly quickly, so the going become stamina sapping and hard work through the winter months.
